This year, we had a tremendous show of support from Elijah Rising volunteers. It was a historic moment to see more than 200 volunteers serve across our Emergency Safe Home Program and Intervention during the World Cup.

Elijah Rising truly can’t do this work without the support of our incredible volunteers. Some have faithfully served for ten years! We also have many who joined us for the first time this year.

Last week, we gathered for our annual Volunteer Appreciation event. It was a fun night of food, fellowship, and honoring volunteers who are committed to combating human trafficking.

A special thank you to our partners at Houston’s First for hosting this event!

Volunteer Spotlight: Kathy Noonan and Kathy Tadlock

This year, we presented our first Bob Wicker Light in the Darkness Award.  Bob was one of Elijah Rising’s most faithful volunteers and devoted his life to ministering to women being exploited on the streets, lovingly calling them his “daughters”. Bob passed away earlier this year, and we decided to create a volunteer award in his honor. We chose Kathy Noonan and Kathy Tadlock, whose selflessness, commitment to prayer, and deep compassion reflect the same servant-hearted devotion that defined Bob’s life and ministry. Through their faithful presence at countless Friday night Interventions, they have reminded women on the streets that they are seen, loved, and not forgotten.

Thank you.

To all of our volunteers: we are so thankful to walk alongside you in this work. Over and over, we’ve seen you go into the darkest streets, cook meals for women who need a safe space, sit with them in hard moments, pray over them, laugh with them, and encourage them. We’ve seen you bring awareness to others in our city, drive for Van Tours, stuff envelopes in our office, help with events, organize supplies, and SO much more.

Thank you for showing up with compassion and for being the hands and feet of Jesus as we seek to bring hope, healing, and freedom to women in our city.
