Elijah Rising Restorative Care

Since 2012 Elijah Rising has been known for the Museum of Modern-Day Slavery, Awareness Van Tours, and outreaches into local brothels, and streets where prostitution is common. Now, Elijah Rising aims to meet a long-standing gap in the care of women who have survived sex trafficking by providing long-term restorative care.

Reckoning With The Impossible

In 2015, Elijah Rising purchased 84 acres in rural Fort Bend County, despite overwhelming odds. In the following years, we experienced many many victories as well as setbacks. Thousands of volunteers, churches, businesses, and donors helped us repair the dilapidated buildings, restore running water and electricity throughout the property.

A New Name

What used to be called Kendleton Farms has now been named the Elijah Rising Restoration Campus. We made this change to:

  1. Minimize confusion about Elijah Rising’s programs.
  2. Better describe our future vision of the land resembling a college campus.

Earlier this year we also rebranded our social enterprise products to reflect the name change as well. The goal of our social enterprise is to provide employment opportunities while women are able to rebuild their lives. View our products online »

What is Restorative Care?

The Elijah Rising Restoration Campus is a safe haven for survivors of sex trafficking to heal. A place for women to learn, to create, and to develop the skills they will need to thrive as healthy, independent leaders in our communities! Residents of the ERRC will have the opportunity to focus wholly on their journey to healing, at a trauma-informed, holistic program… at absolutely no cost.

The campus is located on 84 acres and features multiple residential buildings. This Fall 2019, the Restoration Program opens with two homes providing six residential spaces. Desirie Dougall, Program Director said, “We want our campus to be a sanctuary where survivors can feel safe, and begin to heal from their trauma as we simply provide them with tools that they need to become whole and healthy.”

The Elijah Rising Restoration Program is built on evidence-based practices and informed by the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS) guidelines for Complex PTSD, as well as the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and countless other experts in the field.  Our holistic healing model focuses on the eight dimensions of wellness: physical, emotional, spiritual, social, occupational, intellectual, financial, and environmental.

Next Steps

We are almost finished with the process of staffing the Restoration Program! September will be a full month of staff training in preparation to open in October. Training will include: medical response, professional conflict management, addiction training, restorative justice, TBRI, HIPAA compliance, medication administration, and cultural competency.
