As Houston prepares to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup—bringing an estimated $2B in economic impact and over 500,000 visitors—our city will also face heightened risk as traffickers move to exploit the surge of people and money.
Because Houston is already a major hub for human trafficking and many nonprofits are facing reduced funding, the Church must rise with unified prayer and decisive action.
This citywide gathering brings believers across congregations and denominations together for 12 hours of continuous, united prayer—asking God to expose trafficking networks, rescue victims, strengthen law enforcement and frontline ministries, and mobilize the Body of Christ to protect the vulnerable.
Throughout the day, we will move through five prayer topics, each one rooted in an attribute of God. There will be worship, prayer, and creative ways to engage as we intercede together.
Chapel Room Prayer Hours
Awakening — 9:00 to 11:00 AM God is Light. We are asking Him to expose the darkness of trafficking and open eyes across our city. “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” — Ephesians 5:11
Protection — 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM God is Refuge. We are covering the vulnerable — the women and children most at risk in our city. “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge.” — Psalm 91:4
Rescue — 1:00 to 3:00 PM God is Deliverer. We are contending for the freedom of those still trapped in exploitation. “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer.” — Psalm 18:2
Justice — 3:00 to 5:00 PM God is Just. We are standing in the gap for the oppressed, asking God to move where human systems have failed. “All his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong.” — Deuteronomy 32:4
Healing — 5:00 to 7:00 PM God is Healer. We are interceding for survivors carrying deep wounds — asking God to bring restoration. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3
Citywide Prayer Night
In the evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, we are calling for a citywide prayer and worship gathering in the Sanctuary. You will hear from leaders on the frontlines of combatting human trafficking, and we will close the night with a powerful time of corporate prayer.
Expect God to move. Expect Him to reignite your heart for justice in the face of this evil. It is time for intercessors to rise up and stand in the gap.
