s a pioneering missionary whose five-decade ministry in Hong Kong began
in 1966 when she followed God’s call to the notorious Kowloon Walled C
ity.\n\nThere she launched youth work that grew into St Stephen’s Soci
ety\, a community dedicated to gospel-rooted rehabilitation and disciple
ship for people overcoming drug addiction\, gang involvement\, prostitut
ion/trafficking\, and homelessness.\n\nHer story is told in the widely r
ead memoir Chasing the Dragon. In recognition of her humanitarian servic
e\, Jackie was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MB
 E) in 1988.\n\nToday\, St Stephen’s Society continues to welcome and r
estore the most vulnerable through prayer\, worship\, and practical care
—embodying Jackie’s well-known exhortation to keep “soft hearts an
d hard feet.”\n\nAt the Abolition Summit\, Jackie will share hard-won
wisdom on ministry\, healing\, and the church’s mission among the expl
 oited and forgotten.
